The Clinic 

This regional non corporate medical imaging practice, plays a crucial role in providing diagnostic health care to communities that are geographically distant from major medical centers. These services typically include X-rays, ultrasounds, multi slice CT,  BMD, MRI scans, CT Angiography services and mammography. The clinic is positioned just 1.5 hours away from Cairns and located near national parks and the great barrier reef.  The clinic has been in business for more than a decade.  


The Position 

Working as an independent sonographer in the clinic, you will be given a high degree of autonomy while being supported by the wider team across their established locations.  As a sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a broad range of ultrasound procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging and reporting and maintaining quality patient care.  

Your duties would include the following: 
  • Perform a wide range of ultrasound procedures, including:
  • General ultrasound (Abdomen, Pelvis, Renal, Thyroid, etc.)
  • Small parts (Testes, Breast, Soft Tissue, etc.)
  • Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound
  • Vascular scanning (DVT, Carotid, Renal Arteries, etc.)
  • Pregnancy ultrasound (First Trimester, Growth Scans, etc.)
  • Efficiently manage work lists and accommodate urgent cases as required.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and ensure the comfort and safety of all patients.
  • Work independently while collaborating with the broader team
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with ASAR and Medicare guidelines.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, referring doctors, and other health care professionals to provide comprehensive diagnostic insights.
Requirements:
  • ASAR registration (mandatory)
  • Competency in General, Small Parts, Vascular, MSK, and Pregnancy ultrasound 
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team of health care professionals
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to handle work lists effectively
  • Commitment to high-quality imaging, patient care, and safety
  • CPR certificate (preferred)
  • Experience in specialised ultrasound procedures (Nuchal Translucency, Echocardiography) is highly regarded but not essential
