Healthcare Professionals Group have partnered with this ground-breaking healthcare organisation to identify a high calibre candidate for this newly created role of Senior Government Affairs Manager.

About the opportunity
Reporting to the department head, your role will aid this organisation’s rapid expansion focusing on developing and shaping the public policy environment across a range of external stakeholders.  You will be building strong relationships with federal and state governments, together with industry associations and advocacy groups to accelerate access to life saving therapeutics for patients and the broader community.  Your role will be integral to assisting in establishing the government affairs function including mapping key stakeholders and building effective strategies for effective engagement.  This role includes a balance of strategy and execution, with your past experience in a similar role providing you an excellent platform to further develop your career.

Duties

  • Develop public policy solutions aligned to the organisation’s objectives

  • Conduct legislative and regulatory analysis related to healthcare sector and company impact

  • Write policy papers, submissions, and briefing notes for government inquiries and consultations

  • Provide insights from external stakeholders to internal planning

  • Support the department head in engaging with government officials and external stakeholders

  • Manage relationships with industry trade associations

  • Collaborate with Communications, Medical, Marketing, and Market Access teams


Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in government affairs, public policy with specific experience related to commercial healthcare, particularly the pharmaceutical / medical device sector

  • Experience crafting policy positions across complex healthcare related objectives

  • Ability to map and engage with external stakeholders including federal and state governments, advocacy groups and industry associations

  • Proven capability to lead strategy around healthcare sector from a public policy perspective

  • Strong key stakeholder networks across the Australian pharmaceutical sector

  • Ability to work with in a dynamic and highly matrixed global pharmaceutical organisation

  • Ability to act with urgency as the organisation builds its global footprint
