Healthcare Professionals Group have partnered with this ground-breaking healthcare organisation to identify a high calibre candidate for this newly created role of Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance focused on the APAC region.

About the opportunity
Reporting above country to the global legal and compliance lead, the Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance, will work closely with in-market commercial leaders to provide Legal and Compliance business partnering capabilities across a range of APAC countries including Australia & New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.  Your ability and proven experience in working strategically across the APAC region whilst having hands on involvement in the execution of legal and compliance responsibilities across the region is critical for this role. 

This is a visible and high-impact role, with the opportunity to provide counsel on a wide range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters.  Your ability to work with external counsel in markets across the region, together with focusing on the Australian market, as well as providing insights to the organisation above the region as it upscales, is vital.

Duties

  • Lead the legal, compliance and privacy directorate across the APAC region

  • Partner with key stakeholders internally and external counsel across the region to ensure alignment with all legal and regulatory requirements

  • Work across a broad range of resource intensive projects including negotiations with government, major capital works projects and strategic alliances and agreements with key stakeholders

  • Support Government Relations, Corporate Affairs and Market Access initiatives across the region

  • Ensuring compliance and privacy best practice requirements are met

  • Provide strategic and hands on counsel to commercial leaders across key markets in the region


Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Legal qualification from an accredited law school, admitted into practice and in good standing

  • Current Australian/Victorian practicing certificate (or other Australian state)

  • Legal and Compliance leadership experience across APAC (preferably ANZ, South Korea, Singapore)

  • Experience across pharmaceuticals, medtech and life sciences a distinct advantage

  • Experience working in a complex, dynamic and cross functional corporate environment

  • Ability to work between strategic and execution priorities across multiple countries

  • Currently based in Melbourne or ability to relocate in the short term (including full permanent working rights in Australia)

  • Ability to act with urgency as the organisation builds its regional footprint
