Medical Officer I Non Clinical

The Company  

Working in a government agency in Australia, your role is to evaluate, monitor products, assess and protect the consumers of medical devices in Australia. 

The Vacancy  

  • Utilising your clinical knowledge in the Australian Healthcare System, your role will require you to review research data on medical device products. 
  • Your role is to work closely with sponsors to evaluate clinical data and dossiers. 
  • The doctor reviews products and will take into account safety standards and effectiveness of product ready to be commercialised.
  • On the job training for this non clinical role will be provided.  
  • Doctor will follow strict protocols and procedures and take into account Good Clinical Practice Standards 
  • Doctor also has some knowledge and understanding of typical product life cycle 
  • Knowledge of public health is desirable 
  • This role requires the doctor to be able to be flexible and adaptable to change and working in different working conditions 
  • Work with a diverse group of doctors with sub specialist interest, across 70 medical specialities 
  • You will be assigned multiple projects at any given time. 
  • Work closely with doctors, admin support staff, sponsors (Medical Device Companies funding for a project with the view of having their product be approved and commercialised)
  • Expect to have a minimum of 2 meetings a week  
  • Write commentary based on evidence and be able to stick to the "clinical evidence guidelines"
  • Review clinical studies literature
  • Attend teleconference calls  
  • Evaluate information from the manufacturer
  • Read through data and literature
  • The doctor will need to work out technical factors and understand clinical differences from one product to another.
Requirements  

AHPRA  registration 
Excellent negotiation skills 
Strong verbal and written communication skills
