About the opportunity
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for providing advice and assistance for Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs to ensure compliance under relevant legislation and continuous improvement along with acting as the principal OHS contact for allocated departments.

Duties
  • This is a Business Partner role – the individual will support the laboratory and R&D areas
  • Performing Risk assessments
  • Workplace inspections
  • Assistance with safety actions and training
  • Person will be first point of contact for any EH&S questions
  • Will also be responsible for audit and supporting audit functions
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement, ease of doing business and process, policy and procedure simplification
  • Facilitate cooperation between management and employees in developing and carrying out measures designed to proactively identify and manage the closure of EHS issues through relevant committees and teams
  • Facilitate incident investigations, participate in incident investigation analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Complete EHS management systems monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives as part of the EHS team. Implement initiatives that improve departmental management of EHS. Review statistics and other reports to identify trends and preventative action measures applicable to the base location

Skills and Experience
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role
  • Open to experience from other industries, preference for someone with experience in the laboratory or food industry
  • Knowledge in manufacturing, health and safety committee
  • Knowledge of Australian requirements
  • Experience in reporting to government and other regulatory authorities
  • Health and safety audits and compliance experience
