  • $55.12 per hour + super

This busy and modern hospital in Hobart, Tasmania is looking for a permanent part-time Clinical Nurse Educator to join their Accident & Emergency department. You will enjoy a work-life balance, working 16 hours per week and spend your free time to enjoy the beautiful and scenic surrounds of Hobart.


The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to ensure that all staff within the Accident & Emergency Unit are receiving appropriate and progressive education to ensure the highest standard of care is provided, and to coordinate the daily function of the unit. Ensure clinical practice promotes and complies with operational strategies in accordance with the mission and values. Support the Nurse Unit Manager in facilitating excellence and quality in care through proactive leadership, education of others and innovative strategic planning, and to promote customer focused care that is aligned with best practice.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct care to patients with complex needs, maintaining expertise
  • Work within a team framework to identify patient needs, plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Promote and maintain standards of practice and patient care
  • Understanding of WH&S, ensuring self and others' compliance
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff when required
  • Establish and maintain an effective and collaborative relationship with the team
  • Contribute to the Accreditation process, strategic and business planning for the unit
  • Provide teaching to staff to optimise outcomes, recognising the needs of rostered shift workers
  • Facilitate education by accessing clinical expertise to deliver effective education, and promote the use of evidence-based practice
  • Ensure new nursing staff receive and complete orientation programmes and core clinical competencies
  • Liaise with Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Facilitator to identify and assess individual learning needs
  • Remain current with best practice initiatives in clinical education and practice
  • Maintain and advance own clinical competence and professional development
  • Participate in the performance management of the Level 1 & 2 RN, EN, Hospital Assistants
  • Manages performance issues and manage supplies relevant to the A&E unit
  • Provides advice to NUM regarding speciality consumables and equipment requirements
  • Report incidents or unsafe conditions to your supervisor and comply with relevant WHS policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate and participate in Risk Management activities, as well as develop, implement and update policy & procedures where relevant
  • Work in accordance with the mission and vision

To be considered for this role, essentially you will bring:

  • AHPRA Registration
  • Post-Graduate qualification relevant to position
  • Knowledge of current nursing issues and practices
  • Knowledge and experience in Accident & Emergency
  • Coordination skills and understanding of staffing and managerial duties
  • 4+ years post graduate experience in Accident & Emergency
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Risk Management and WHS issues
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willing to undertake 1st year)

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Computer literacy
