Clinical Field Engineer/Sleep Scientist

About the Company

Our client is a medical device company that is currently developing a novel neurostimulation technology to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnoea for patients that have failed or refused continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

About the opportunity

This company are currently seeking an experienced Sleep Scientist or Biomedical Engineer to join their research team based in Australia. Although this position is working from home, the position requires frequent travel to attend sleep studies at their clinical trial sites across Australia.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role have been broken down into five sections, please see below:

General

  • Attending polysomnography sleep studies and optimizing treatment settings
  • Interpreting results of sleep studies and developing treatment strategies
  • Interacting with and training patients to encourage compliance and ensure best

treatment results

Clinical Projects

  • Support the development of study ideas.
  • Write or review study projects documents.
  • Perform project required technical training of internal and site staff.

Product Development

  • Provide feedback on existing or new products as required
  • Coordinate user's feedback sessions (physicians, nurses, etc) as required.

Training/Education

  • Support internal and external customers training sessions related to our technology and

products (lectures, product demonstration, etc.).

  • Support physicians in understanding technology and products (e.g., Literature

Field Technical support

  • Respond to and document field technical problems.
  • Work with other company functions (e.g. R&D, Regulatory, Quality) to report and

address product issues

  • Troubleshoot field technical problems.
  • Follow-up with reported technical issues

Skills and Experience

  • Education: A degree in scientific or health discipline required, and advanced degree is preferable
  • Fluent English (both written and spoken)
  • Comprehend and apply medical and business knowledge to clinical trial execution.
  • Established technical proficiency and ability to trouble shoot computer and software issues at the site level
  • Deep understanding of sleep medicine and conducting sleep studies, particularly polysomnography is highly desirable
  • Able to undertake frequent night shifts during polysomnography sleep studies of patients
  • Willingness and ability to travel (30 % with the expectation of visiting and supporting interstate clinical research sites as needed).
  • Self-motivated, able to work remotely, independently and manage own schedule
  • Knowledge of clinical research and GCP/ ICH
  • Expertise in communication, managing multiple priorities and computer literacy.
  • Established people management skills with demonstrated expertise in working on teams.
  • Able to show initiative and work well autonomously, within minimal supervision.
