About the opportunity
The Assistant Accountant will support the completion of accounts, returns and other reporting requirements, identifying and rectifying errors and provide analysis and suggestions to stakeholders.
Duties
- Management and review of staff expenses through Concur and associated accruals and journal entries
- Complete account reconciliations and identify and rectify any errors or anomalies to ensure accurate data
- Maintain a complete and accurate fixed asset register and conduct asset counts as required
- Assist in the preparation of month end reporting of profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow
- Assist with the preparation of various tax and insurance reports to ensure the business is complaint
- Supporting the finance manager and finance team, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Assist with assigned ad-hoc projects to ensure they met specified team and business outcomes
- Assisting with day-to-day operations of Finance department
- Performing inventory management, including material releases and assistance with stocktake
Skills and Experience
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Tertiary qualification in a Bachelor of Business/Commerce (majoring in Accounting)
- Studying towards CA/CPA qualification or planning to commence studies in the near future
- Sound understanding of finance and accounting concepts
- Experience in General Ledger & Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Proficiency in MS Office including Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Concur is ideal
- Experience using large ERP (SAP experience regarded favourable)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and self-manage in order to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
