Job Description:


As a Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate nursing support to their inpatient mental health unit. Working within a team of dedicated nurses and healthcare professionals, you will help patients manage and cope with their conditions while facilitating their journey towards recovery. You will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other team members to ensure holistic and individualised care for each patient.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide nursing support to the inpatient mental health unit, offering personalised care and assistance to patients.
  • Collaborate with a team of permanent nurses and casual staff to deliver high-quality care in a supportive environment.
  • Work closely with patients with mental health conditions, including PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma, to provide emotional and psychological support.
  • Assist patients in managing and coping with their conditions through empathetic and nonjudgmental interactions.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health care professionals to coordinate treatment plans and interventions.
  • Support patients during group therapy sessions
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities to stay updated with the latest mental health nursing practices.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with valid AHPRA registration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field (preferred).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing (preferred).
  • Proven experience in mental health nursing (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic and nonjudgmental attitude towards patients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
