About The Hospital:

Located in Tasmania, this Private Hospital is situated adjacent to the public hospital.  The hospital is commitment to providing high-quality patient care. The hospital
operates with a focus on excellence, catering to various medical specialities in surgery including general surgery, orthopaedics, endoscopy, ENT, ophthalmology, and dental. With three state-of-the-art theatres, the hospital performs approximately 6,000 surgeries annually.

Job Description:


As a Scrub Scout, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of their surgical procedures. Working within a dedicated team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and organization of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, as well as providing support to the surgical team during procedures. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other health care professionals to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up the operating room for surgical procedures according to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgical process to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and proactively provide support as required.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • There are no on call duties at this facility.  
  • Provide support one weekend a month 
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven experience working as a Scrub Scout in a surgical setting, preferably within the specialties mentioned.
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to undergo cross-training in different surgical specialties as required.
