With Melbourne as a key regional headquarters including manufacturing of mRNA vaccines, the incumbent will be based in Melbourne or in a position to relocate by early 2023.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager ANZ, your role as Communications & Corporate Affairs Director will see you working alongside the leadership team in developing and executing the overall Corporate Affairs and Media plan.
You will provide communication expertise on various initiatives aligned with commercial strategies, company vision and business priorities. You will strengthen the company's reputation by developing, enhancing and protecting its brand narrative, and supporting additional brand-related. You will be highly curious and energized by working in an area of emerging science, medicine and technology and thrive on helping the company tell a complex story externally.
Duties
Increase awareness of the organisation's leadership in mRNA science, platform, pipeline, technology
Create and execute communication strategies that align with the corporate and local business objectives and reinforce the reputation and branding of the organisation
Support senior leaders with considered counsel on reputation related matters and leading issues preparations and response
Participate as member of the country leadership team, supporting the team with communication strategies and plans and bringing insight and input to the teams from perspectives of media and other stakeholders with which you are engaging
Act as a first point of contact and spokesperson for local media inquiries, coordinating media outreach, spokespeople and briefing responsibilities
Write, edit and produce communications in a variety of media, including print, video, digital and social
Partner with industry, government, research partners and strategic collaborators in developing opportunities for joint engagement
Skills and Experience
Significant current experience leading a Communications/Corporate Affairs/Media Relations function in a pharmaceutical and/or vaccines organisation in the Australian market (mandatory)
Strong understanding of the media landscape with solid media relations experience across Australia
Knowledge of regulations around healthcare/medical devices promotion
Proven track record of driving science communications
Bachelor's degree required; MBA, Master's degree in communications, marketing, or life sciences preferred
