Hospital Coordinator - After Hours

  • Registered Nurse level 3
  • Launceston, Tasmania
  • 10pm - 7am shifts
  • 30-50 Beds

  • Award rate plus super plus penalties

This small Tassie based Hospital is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse and people leader to manage the overnight clinical staff of this lovely, small but busy facility.

The Hospital Coordinator provides leadership, operational and resource management of nursing, ancillary and other staff outside normal business hours. The Hospital Coordinator is responsible for the safe operation of the hospital, acting as chief fire warden in the event of an emergency. The position ensures high standards are maintained through involvement in clinical governance and quality improvement processes.

Duties within the role:

  • Provides clinical leadership, care and support to patients, relatives and clinical teams after hours
  • Coordinates a high level of quality patient care across the hospital in collaboration with colleagues
  • Responds to emergent situations and maintains currency of Adult and Paediatric Advanced Life Support and Chief Fire Warden training
  • Recognises own and other's level of clinical competence and plans/delegates accordingly
  • Performs comprehensive assessment of patient needs across the service to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Provides discharge planning support for complex patients
  • Undertakes senior nurse reviews as required and documents plan for care in the medical record
  • Acts to enhance the dignity and integrity of individuals and groups
  • Recognises and supports the rights of the patient, and their significant other, to participate in their own care
  • Provides bed management and patient flow services after hours
  • Maintains awareness of the role and function of all hospital personnel in the case of internal and external emergencies
  • Responds appropriately as senior nurse to all emergency codes
  • Arranges transfers to higher care facility as necessary
  • Routinely assesses the workload of units and provides adequate staffing as necessary
  • Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of patients and provides appropriate supervision and direction for staff
  • Evaluates admission/discharge processes and identifies areas for improvement
  • Collaborates extensively to ensure optimal care for patients
  • Knows hospital targets/ KPI's and works to maximise revenue
  • Meet daily targets while maintaining patient safety and compliance with EBA's, legislation
  • Monitors sick leave, replaces sick leave as appropriate and assists CNM's to achieve unit KPI's
  • Monitors and reports all incidents and transfers and maintains appropriate documentation
  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace;
  • Comply with relevant WHS policies, procedures, work instructions and requests;
  • Report to your supervisor any incident or unsafe conditions which come to your attention;

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Current AHPRA
  • Registered Nurse level 3 minimum
  • Proven leadership skills - 2 years or more
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience as an RN
  • Police Clearance
  • Exemplary communication skills - written and verbal
