The course focuses on developing skills, knowledge and confidence in managing medical emergencies including cardiac arrest. It includes the recognition, assessment and immediate management of the deteriorating patient.
NSW Rural Doctors Network would like to invite you to a one-day Advanced Life Support course in Orange on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 May.
The course meets the standards for Advanced Life Support level 1 as defined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and includes:
Recognition, assessment and management of the critically ill patient using a structured ABCDE approach (aiming to prevent cardiac arrest)
Airway management skills
Basic Life Support
Defibrillation skills (Manual and/or AED modes)
Cardiac arrest management using the ARC ALS Algorithm
Work as an effective team member in a cardiac arrest
The course is facilitated by Queanbeyan Health Service.
Overview
There are no formal prerequisites for this course however candidates are expected to be competent in CPR and to have prepared for the course by reading the provided manual. Participants will be sent a manual at least two weeks prior to the course in preparation for the face-to-face component.
