"...entering the recruitment industry and helping talented people find the perfect role for them has always felt like the natural career path for me."

Why did you decide to enter in the recruitment industry?

I've always been drawn to the world of recruitment because of the immense impact we can have on people's lives. Being able to help individuals achieve their career aspirations and land their dream job is an incredibly rewarding feeling. While I had once aspired to become a doctor, I realised that I didn't have the stomach for such a demanding role. Instead, I turned to recruitment as a natural career path to help talented people find their perfect match in the job market.

"the appeal of working in healthcare is having the ability to positively impact every walk of life..."

What was it about healthcare that appealed to you?

The beauty of healthcare lies in its ability to touch every single person on this planet, regardless of their background or circumstance. As someone who wants to make a positive impact on the world, working in healthcare allows me to help people from all walks of life and make a tangible difference in their lives.

"I am very proud to have helped this candidate break into the healthcare industry and progress their career in a short amount of time."

Tell us about your most memorable role placement. What were the challenges and achievements?

In my brief time in the industry, my most significant achievement has been making my first placement. I placed a wild-card candidate into a temporary role with a medical device company during my second week at HPG. Three months later, the same candidate was offered a permanent position with the same company. It was incredibly fulfilling to help this individual break into the healthcare industry and progress their career in such a short amount of time.

"I've even done some farm work in rural Australia!"

What education background do you have that helps you with your current job?

After completing my core high school qualifications, I continued studying for two more years before completing a government apprenticeship in business administration. This role provided me with a range of skills, including written and verbal communication, system utilisation, and self-confidence. Despite starting off terrified of making phone calls, especially to senior professionals, I grew more confident over time and became more effective. Moreover, my experience in different roles in different industries has allowed me to develop a wide range of skills that are valuable in any career path.

Why a client or candidate should work with you?

Simply put, I care deeply about my work and want to help my clients and candidates in every way possible. My greatest strength is my ability to understand even the smallest details about someone or something. When working with candidates, I take the time to learn about their experiences and understand them as much as possible. This allows me to build rapport and establish long-term relationships. For clients, my relationships with candidates mean that I can quickly find highly skilled candidates to fill their talent gaps.

"...the right employer will appreciate you for who you are as a person and cherish having you in their team."

Your Personal Advice for Candidates

My best advice is to be yourself. Your skills and personality may not be a perfect match for every employer, but the right employer will appreciate you for who you are as a person and value having you on their team. Additionally, for those who lack confidence during interviews, I suggest reviewing your resume and experience beforehand. By keeping your experience fresh in your mind, you can more easily answer interview questions and perform more confidently during the interview. The better you prepare, the more confident and successful you will be.
